RETIREMENT

Spay & Neuter Center. A.C.
The Mexican governments
solution to the overpopulation of stray animals is to round them up
and kill them by either shooting or poisoning. Eight ½ tons of
dog carcasses are incinerated at the Guadalajara dump each month, yet
there are still staggering numbers of homeless dogs or cats roaming
the streets. We are a non-profit organization, based on the shores of Lake Chapala. The
lakeside Spay & Neuter Center hopes to permanently end the cycle
of littering and bring consciousness to the plight of animals in Mexico,
by sterilizing as many strays as we can. We try to raise awareness about
responsibility to all animals and implore the public to join us in our
cries against the mass killings of strays. Our original mission was only to spay & neuter and stop the overpopulation of street dogs; however, it very quickly became apparent that there was an urgent need to rescue injured, abandoned and abused animals and thus we expanded our mission. We and our volunteers dream that a time will come when our services are no longer needed, but until then we will continue our commitment to animals: to free them from unwanted litters, hunger and thirst, pain and suffering, discomfort and distress and to give them space to run and all of their tomorrows without fear. We
are fortunate to receive funds from The
Lakeside Friends of the Animals for some of our spays, and supplement
that with donations and fundraisers. Please help us so we can
make a difference. Gudrun
