Spaying & Neutering

Here in Mexico a puppy is a treasured commodity, but once it reaches maturity it loses its appeal and is often thrown away, while a new puppy finds its way into the “loving arms of the family.” The Lakeside Spay & Neuter Center, A.C. is trying to stop this cycle and educate the Mexican Community on pet ownership. We try to stop the daily heartache of seeing the streets populated by mange-ridden, starving and sick dogs which still produce litter after litter of unwanted puppies, many of which are thrown into garbage cans or starve to death

It is now proven that there are no health risks in spaying dogs before their first heat. Many veterinarians spay puppies as young as ten weeks. Altering dogs is beneficial to their health and reduces the risk of many common cancers in both, male or female dogs. The cost of spaying or neutering a puppy in Mexico is $150 pesos, ($15.USD); an older dog can be altered for approximately $350 pesos, ($35 USD). So little - can accomplish so much. We spay/neuter on an average 2 ½ animals a day. Small number some say but considering that two dogs and their offspring can produce 64,000 puppies in six years, cats are even more prolific the 2 ½ animals altered each day will make a difference. .
Please help us and be part of the solution.

With your help we can prevail – for the love of animals we must prevail.

Rescue & Rehabilitation

Animal abuse does not stop at the border; it dramatically increases in third world countries. If your heart breaks when you see unwanted puppies or a stray, then help us in our quest to make every animal a wanted one. Many times we receive calls about injured or abandoned animals. If the injury or starvation is too severe, the gentle hand of a veterinarian will end the suffering while we hold the animal to let it know that it is loved even if only for a moment. For each one we cry.

The lucky ones are taken to the Ranch to be nurtured and rehabilitated until someone will come and claim it for their own.

The care and the feeding cost sometimes overwhelm us – even though we have no overhead, we are always short on funds.

Won’t you please help us so we can continue to improve the life of the lesser of God’s creatures.

Thank you.

“The love for all living things is the most noble attribute of man.” Charles Darwin
